CLONE WARS

In the final Star Trek: TNG movie, Star Trek: Nemesis, we have yet another madman(yes, it’s Tom Hardy).

I realize that movies need villains, but does it always have to be a psychopath who doesn’t care about anyone but himself?

That being said, this movie’s madman has a very interesting story.

A TALE OF TWO PICARDS

Captain Picard has always been a key part of the Federation.

Pretty important guy.

So if you were the Romulan government, and you wanted to bring the Federation down from the inside, your best bet would be to make your own Captain Picard and try to swap yours with the real one.

This was the original idea.

The clone was created, and it was growing, at an accelerated rate, to become Picard at whatever age he was at the time.

WE’VE DECIDED WE DON’T NEED YOU ANYMORE

Then the Romulans decided to scrap the “clone Picard” project and dumped the clone on the dark crappy planet of Remus.

This clone is a perfect replica of Picard.  He’s forced to live on a mining planet with a bunch of Remans(who look like gargoyles) and he’s beaten daily by the Romulan guards.

Who do you think he blames for this?

The Romulan government?

Yeah, them BUT also the guy who he will never be (Picard).

WHICH ONE OF YOU IS THE EVIL CLONE?

Picard gets to live an awesome life as a starship captain and the clone is left to die on Remus.

Ah, but there is a war with the Dominion, and they need help from the Remans, so the clone is drafted and he climbs the ranks of the Romulan Military.

One problem: this clone is a bit unstable.

He decides to start killing everyone.

First he murders the Romulan senate, then he invites the Enterprise to come and visit and talk about peace.

It is then we find out that he really wants Picard and doesn’t care about Romulus. He thinks that a full blood transfusion will cure his insanity and his being a bad clone.

And the chaos ensues.

Your typical clone gone bad story.

AND OTHER SUB-PLOTS…

We also get another one of Data’s brother Androids(called B-4)

Riker and Troi finally get married

And a cool scene at the beginning where they drive a dune buggy(the Argo) off a cliff into a floating shuttle craft while sand people chase them.

Not my favourite TNG movie but it’s action packed and a good way to close off the series.
